WHO IS A CANDIDATE? Anyone in whom previous transplantation has resulted in a visual unit that is perceived as a graft rather than as a naturally occurring visual unit, is a candidate for hair repair surgery. Patients with dark, coarse hair, on light skin, typically have the most conspicuous results. Any graft containing more than one follicular unit may be perceived as a graft rather than as a naturally occurring entity. In patients with dark hair, even small follicular units along the hairline may need to be repaired. At the other extreme, patients with white or salt and pepper hair, or blond hair on tan skin, may need little or no refinement at all, especially if hair has been lost from larger grafts over the years. |
