Is It Painful?
To decrease discomfort, sedatives and pain
medications will be first given to you by mouth or by vein. During the
procedure, you will be awake, but sleepy. The areas to be treated are then
numbed with local anesthetic, as during a dental procedure. After dermal
grafting, patients only wear a dressing for one to two days, and often return
to work within 3-4 days. After a laser treatment or dermabrasion, a dressing
will be applied to minimize postoperative discomfort. Healing with these
procedures generally occurs in 7-14 days, and makeup can be applied in about
8-11 days. The initial redness fades to a pinker color and then the
pigmentation gradually returns to your skin tone. |
